Gardens and Gardening Shows
Old Manor Holiday Cottages are ideally placed for visiting the many famous local gardens including Hidcote, Kiftsgate Court, Coughton Court, Batsford Arboretum, and The Croome Park Estate. The local Yellow Books for the National Garden Scheme are full of gardens to visit from early Spring to Autumn. With a host of National Trust Properties nearby and two annual RHS Malvern Flower Shows, there's always plenty to do.
The RHS Spring Gardening festival takes place each year in May at the Three Counties Showground with the stunning backdrop of the Malvern Hills. Its a great day out with lots to see and do - show gardens, the amazing floral marquee, plant stalls, shopping, talks and demonstrations, celebrity gardeners and celebrity chefs in the show kitchens. The RHS Autumn Harvest show takes place in September with a great display of produce, food and drink, displays in the arenas, vintage tractors, gardening talks and cookery demonstrations. Old Manor Holiday Cottages are a great place to stay for visiting the RHS Malvern shows with easy access to the showground.
Twyning also has its own amazing gardening show with an outdoor exhibition and sale of affordable garden art and sculpture at Showborough House in May and June.
There's a varied mix of great local gardens to visit in Gloucestershire, The Cotswolds, Hereford & Worcester. Lydney Park to the south has a stunning display of rhododendrons and magnolia early in the year, there's the flamboyant rococo garden at Painswick and Spetchley Park is a true plantsman's garden. Hidcote, Seizencote, Kiftsgate, Bourton House, Westonbirt and Coughton Court are all within easy reach. The only dutch water garden in the country can be found at Westbury-on-Severn (National Trust), providing year round structure and interest.

There are plenty of varied National Trust Properties and historic sites of interest in the area around Old Manor Holiday Cottages - from the House and Grounds of Croome Park and Hidcote to the Roman Villa at Chedworth. A short walk from the nearby village of Winchcombe are Belas Knap the neolithic long barrow and Hailes Abbey - the ruins of a 13th Century Cistercian abbey. In Tewkesbury itself there's the 12th Century Tewkesbury Abbey and famous medieval streets and alleys.
